Buttocks hyaluronic acid

Hyaluronic acid injections help to achieve a more moderate increase in buttock volume and avoid a procedure in the operating room. This solution is also chosen when the morphology of the patient does not allow enough fat to be removed for lipofilling (BBL). Hyaluronic acid injections are performed at the doctor’s office, under simple local anesthesia and help to increase the volume of the buttocks by 100 cc to 300 cc each side.

The hyaluronic acid used is not the same as the one traditionally used in the face. It is a specific acid designed for the body and is not intended for injection in the face.

This is the preferred technique to slightly augment the projection of the buttocks and to lightly fill the hollow areas under the buttocks, which often appear in women with age and cause minor sagging of the buttocks.

No examations are required. Contraindications are the same as for any hyaluronic acid injection, i.e. pregnancy, breastfeeding, anticoagulant treatment and any autoimmune disease.

Hyaluronic acid does not cause any allergic reactions and there is no maximum dose. As with any injection, it is recommended to avoid taking aspirin or anti-inflammatories in the 4 to 5 days before the injection to limit the risk of bleeding.

On the day of the injection, it is recommended to have a shower using an antiseptic soap such as Betascrubâ or Hibiscrubâ as it is important that the area to be treated is perfectly clean to avoid the inoculation of any skin germs with the hyaluronic acid.

The procedure takes place at the doctor’s office. Markings are drawn in a standing position to properly identify the areas of the buttock to be treated. A local anesthetic is applied on each side where the cannula will be inserted into the skin. The area to be treated will then be anaesthetised with serum containing adrenaline (to limit bleeding) and lidocaine (to prevent pain).

The treatment can take from 45 minutes to 2 hours depending on the quantity of hyaluronic acid to be injected.

The injection is carried out with a specific single-use cannula. As with any hyaluronic acid injection, the result is immediately visible and, in consultation with the patient, the number of syringes to be injected can be adjusted depending on the volume obtained.

After the treatment, patients may experience a varying level of pain, which will be treated with simple painkillers, such as paracetamol. Lying down may be uncomfortable for a few days after the injection. After edema (swelling) lasting 3 to 8 days, the final result will last for a period of around one to two years. Normal activities can commence immediately, even if sports activities may be painful for a few days. There may be ecchymosis (bruising) for a few days.

No compression garment needs to be worn after hyaluronic acid injections contrary to liposuction, a buttock lift, or lipofilling.

Pain, sometimes present in the days following the injections, is the main complication with hyaluronic acid buttock injections.

The injection site will heal spontaneously with no sequelae but it is recommended to protect this small spot with total sunscreen in the event of sun exposure to avoid hyperpigmentation of the scar.

It is recommended not to wait until the hyaluronic acid has been absorbed before renewing the injections. It is best to carry out an annual assessment and supplement the volume absorbed to obtain the most stable result possible over time.
