Botox® or botulinum toxin injection
Objective of botulinum toxin injections in Paris
This treatment is done to reduce the wrinkles and the lines when at rest, not to freeze the face. If the treatment is done properly, facial expressions are preserved and the result is natural.
Botulinum toxin (Azzalure®, Bocouture®, Vistabel®) blocks the action of the muscles responsible for expression lines in a very selective way (myorelaxing action).
Most of the time, botulinum toxin is used to treat the frown lines, the crow’s-feet and the wrinkles on the forehead.
Botulinum toxin treatment also helps revitalize the face by opening the eye area and giving a natural relaxed look. Weakly reticulated hyaluronic acid injections can be used in order to optimize the result, and mesotherapy will help smooth and rehydrate the periorbital skin.
Organisation of a wrinkle treatment session
No anesthesia is required.
The treatment consists in multiple injections on the face using a very thin needle. The treatment is usually painless and only lasts a few minutes.
The different types of botulinum toxins used
Doctor Natalie Rajao mostly uses Vistabel® (Allergan laboratory) and Azzalure® (Qmed laboratory), two products suited to women and men.
You can go back to your normal activities after the injections. The follow-up is quite simple. Some light swelling may appear. However the wrinkles and lines are usually totally invisible 30 minutes after the treatment.
The expected results begin to appear between the 3rd and the 5th day after surgery. A treatment with botulinum toxin injections shall be conceived and managed over time: the treatment should be progressive and the first injections moderate in order to avoid an unwanted effect. The treatment can be done again after 4 to 6 months. If the injections are not renewed, the treated muscle goes back to its initial state.
Complications are very rare.
The contraindications for the treatment are:
- Neuromuscular disorders such as myasthenia.
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding.
- Known hypersensitivity to botulinum neurotoxin.
