Breast reconstruction surgery
Breast reconstruction always consists of several steps, whether it is intended to treat breast abnormalities such as tuberous breast or Poland anomaly, or if the abnormality is the consequence of breast cancer. These steps permit the achievement of 2 breasts with volumes and appearances as symmetrical as possible.
Breast reconstruction does not aim to reconstruct the breast as it was at a particular time, which may be impossible, but to create 2 similar breasts. This may imply an intervention on the other breast in order to lift it up (breast ptosis), to reduce it (unilateral breast reduction) or to increase its volume (implant).
